Although there are many things that can trigger hair loss, there are some precautions that you can take to try and prevent it.

Avoid hairstyles that pull on the scalp like tight ponytails, cornrows, and tight plaits
Avoid styling tools that use excessive heat

Hair loss may be caused by a vitamin deficiency, so eating foods high in iron, zinc, and B12 may help slow or even stop your hair loss.

There are many reasons you may be suffering from hair loss and recommended hair loss treatment also varies, so visiting your doctor to try and discover what is causing your hair loss will be the first step to regaining your hair.

If your hair loss is due to hormone changes, such as stress or pregnancy, then your hair loss is most likely temporary and doesn’t require treatment.

If your hair loss is due to wearing tight hairstyles or using harsh chemicals, then stopping these practices might cause your hair to regrow.

For vitamin deficiency-based hair loss your doctor may advise supplements.

Hair growth shampoo can help add volume to your hair, we stock a variety of thickening shampoos online such as Alpecin.

Your doctor may diagnose your hair loss as Female Pattern Hair Loss and recommend topical treatments such as Minoxidil to try to reverse the effects.

It is important to see your doctor the moment you notice your hair is thinning or your first bald patch, your GP will be able to help diagnose the issue and will be able to advise treatments. Alternatively, you could just decide to embrace your new style.
